The swimming pool is now open!  It is important that all members and guests sign in at the bar before entering the pool area.  And, please note that no swimwear is permitted in the bar without a cover up on, and shoes are required.

We all dream of the day we will get a Hole-In-One!  Well, “Congratulations” to a couple of our members! Jim Webb got one on #16 and Amy Weaver got one on #7 this month.  Way to go!!!

We want to say ‘Thanks’ to the following members for all of their help this past month: Paul Hagan, Tami & Mitch Mills, Richard Webber, Paul Barbee, Kevin Robbins, Ted & Amy Weaver, Tom Paul, Sherry Crites, Sally Rude, Steve King, Bob Manuel, Mike & Nancy Williams, Debbie & Jack Ehrman, Dean Hargrave, Louie Moreland, Elaine Bailey, and Sheila Vogt.

The Men’s Association Member/Guest is scheduled for next weekend, June 5th & 6th.  The course will be open on Saturday, but will be closed on Sunday.  Details on the bulletin board.

The Ladies Association will be hosting the Ladies Invitational on Saturday, June 12th.  Registration is at 7:30 AM and tee off at 8:30 AM.  Sign-up sheets are on the ladies’ bulletin board.  A 2-person Horse Race will be available Friday night, June 11th at 5:30 PM.  Call Sherry Crites for details (417) 893-1071.

The Dogpatch Derby will be on Saturday, June 19th.  The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board.  You must be signed up by Friday 5:00 PM, as drawing will be held that evening.

The Couples Scramble is scheduled on Sunday, June 27th at 1:00 PM. It is $70 per couple and open to the public.  Get your team together and get ready! Let your friends know!

Friday night couples has been for members, but it has been suggested and agreed upon that on the first Friday night of each month members can invite a guest couple (non-members) to play at our course.  It is a fun time for all and we hope to see more members participate as the weather gets warmer!  There would be no cost to the guest couple, other than if they need to rent a cart.

We would like to let everyone know that sometime in the next month depending on the weather conditions that the driveway and parking lot of Clinton Country Club is going to be repaired and sealed.  The course should still be accessible while this is being completed, but wanted you to be aware of this event when entering and leaving the club.

On Saturday, July 3rd at 6:00 PM after the Independence Day Scramble, Clinton Country Club will be hosting a hog roast and potluck dinner along with fireworks.  This event is not open to the public, but members can invite any and all of their family and friends.  Tickets are just $10 per person to join in the fun! (Children under 12 years are free).  Tickets can be purchased from any board member. [There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board for our members who wish to participate and volunteer to bring a potluck dish.]

First of all, let me say that I hate to be wrong and have to apologize for things that I say. But in this case, I must offer my most sincere apologies for my comments in last month’s newsletter.  Although we had to refund some greens fees it turns out that the greens fee players were unaware of proper etiquette on the course.  This led to an interruption in the play on the course which is always an aggravation.   I did not have my facts straight, until the board vigorously corrected me, and for any offense I do apologize.

For those of us who prefer to walk or who wish to start on 10, let me make this suggestion.  Try teeing off early in the morning. Some of the most relaxing rounds I have ever played were with my Dad, teeing at 7am.  The course has a completely different face at that time of day.  The play of the fairways and greens is significantly different and I would venture to say that you will find it to be an interesting round.  There is no waiting for slow play and you won’t interrupt the flow of the course if you turn left after #7. [Next time you see me ask about the “Sprinkler Golf”]

Speaking of flow of the game, particularly on the weekends, do not tee off on #10.  Inserting yourself into the conga line of foursomes going around the course causes a stutter of play that eventually reaches all the way back to # 1.  This makes people grouchy and according to the best authorities available is responsible for a significant rise in the number of strokes that are made.  If you prefer to tee on #10 see the above paragraph.

Finally, there is a rumor going around that the lightning strike that occurred on #2 was because the maker of all thing including lightning, sliced into the woods.  I will neither confirm or deny this {basically cause I don’t know} but I will say there have been many times that if I could call down some significant voltage I would have, but instead I resort to words my mother would have frowned upon.

If you have suggestions or ideas for promoting the club and bringing in new members, please contact me at 660-885-1970 and/or contact any board member.
