October 2019 Newsletter

www.clinton-country-club.com

As we go into the fall season there are still a few tournaments left for the year.  The following are tournaments and association events that are scheduled for October.

The Seniors Invitational Tournament is October 1st at 9:00 AM.  Course will be closed.

The Ladies Association Banquet is October 2nd at 6:00 PM.

The Football Frenzy Tournament is October 5th.  Tailgating will begin at 11:00 AM in the parking lot. Don’t forget to wear your favorite football team’s shirt.  Golf starts at 1:00 PM.  This tournament is open to the public.

The Clinton Country Club Men’s Chili Bowl is October 6th and the golf course will be closed.  The Warrensburg Men’s Chili Bowl is October 13th.   Sign-up sheets are available in the pro shop.

The Men’s Association Banquet is October 10th. There is no golf and the sign-up sheet is in the pro shop.

The Pumpkin Open is October 12th at 1:00 PM and the golf course will be closed.  If the tournament is rained out that day, it will be rescheduled for October 19th at 1:00 PM.  The tournament is open to the public, so invite your non-member friends to take part in this fun tournament.  Remember, it is all about the pumpkin!

The Texas Hold’Em Poker Tournament begins Friday, October 25th at 6:00 p.m. and will be every Friday night through March 2020.  Beginning this year the tournament is open to all members.  Both men and women are welcome to play!

The “Couples” Golf Scramble that was cancelled in June due to rain has been rescheduled for October 26th at 1:00 PM.  Course will be closed.  This tournament is open to the public.

The Board of Directors would like to say thank you to Larry McBride, Carol Phillips, David Burrow, Tom Paul and Ron Shanks.

We are still looking for two members to serve on the 2020 Board of Directors.  If you are willing to serve, please contact a Board member to be considered at the next board meeting.

Also, as we go into the last quarter of the year, the Board will start considering next year’s operation budget. This of course takes into account revenue sources and expenses. Dues for next year will be reviewed and all expenses will be studied to see if we can cut any or some out of the budget. If you have any ideas, please let a Board member know so they may be taken into consideration by the directors during a board meeting. Tournaments are one of our good sources for revenue; if you know of any organizations or companies that would like to use our course, please let a board member know so that they can be placed on the spring schedule.

As always, if you have suggestions or ideas for promoting the club and bringing in new members, please contact me at 660-351-2184 and/or contact any board member.

Kenny Goth, President

Golf Course Etiquette and Blue Flag Guidelines

The best part of our club is the condition of our golf course.  Our Superintendent, workers and volunteers do an incredible job to maintain it.

When there has been excessive rain special entry signs and cart path only signs are put in place on holes such as one, fourteen and seventeen along with some of the others, and it means that all should respect those limitations.  During these conditions access should be limited to rough areas and access to other non-limited areas should be ninety degree entry.

Blue Flags were created to allow members with difficulty walking to allow them to park a little closer to greens, tee boxes and certain fairways that are usually restricted to accessing, and should be used by these members only.  Blue Flag access was not intended to allow people to disregard the signs and damage our course.  If these guidelines are abused the use of a blue flag may be revoked.

We want all members to enjoy our club to the maximum, so please be courteous when driving your cart to help keep the course beautiful.  We would like to ask that all members respect our course and its condition at all times.

Thank you.

The Board of Directors
